A Real Time Blackboard Based Architecture

The integration of Artificial Intelligence techniques in traditional real-time systems appears to be a promising approach to cope with the growing complexity of real-world applications. However, knowledge based systems still face great difficulties in meeting the stringent requirements for achieving highquality results in a timely manner. In this paper, we present an architecture ground on the multi-agent blackboard model that integrates planning capabilities. The use of plans facilitates real-time control by integrating opportunistic response to unanticipated events and carefully planned sequences of actions. Moreover, it allows the system to support real time scheduling of actions.
